CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Mason Wede of Carrington has announced his candidacy for the Senate in District 29.

In a release, Wede stated mentioned concerns of representation for smaller communities compared to some of the larger cities in North Dakota.

“We, as rural North Dakotans, need someone who will stand up in Bismarck to say we deserve the same benefits as the larger towns do in North Dakota,” Wede stated. “This disparity has limited choice, forced school merging, and displaced entire communities. Bringing people, resources, and jobs back to our shrinking communities we can help our local communities rebuild and grow.”

Wede says this is why he announced his candidacy for the District 29 Senate seat for the 2022 election.

A 3rd generation farmer, Wede was born and raised in Carrington.

“I have always been interested in local politics since my time in high school and have kept an eye on local issues even when away in college getting my Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Technology,” he stated.

Wede says if elected, he hopes to use the Legacy Fund to help local communities by fighting for income tax relief and standing up for economic and job job development to bring jobs back to the state.

District 29 is currently represented by Sen. Terry Wanzek, R-Jamestown; Rep. Chet Pollert, R-Carrington; and Rep. Craig Headland, R-Montpelier.
