MCVILLE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) After being down by as many as 16 points, the Cardinals came back to cut the gap to just two points late in the fourth quarter but couldn’t get over the hump as the Knights of Dakota Prairie win 51-43. Carrington suffers their first loss of the season and are 2-1 overall, DP improves to 3-1 overall.

Early on in the first quarter, the game featured two ties and four lead changes, but then the Knights took control and led for most of the game. In the fourth, starting point guard and Senior Cade Stein fouled out of the contest with about five minutes left in the game, the Cardinals put on the press and shook up the Knights, causing them to turn the ball over and the Cardinals took advantage cutting the gap to just two points, 42-40 with about three minutes left. But some big points by Senior Garrett Syverson and a three pointer by Jake Johnson helped the Knights keep the lead. Syverson led the Knights with 16, Stein added 15, including four 3-pointers. Carrington was led by Freshman Josh Bickett off the bench with 11, Hudson Topp added 10, including three treys.
