JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown women’s basketball team got a late bucket from Hannah DeMars with four seconds remaining to help the Jimmies outlast the Blue Hawks, 71-69.
Dickinson State put pressure on Jamestown from the start, jumping out to an early 13-2 lead in the first quarter. The Blue Hawks simply had more effort throughout the game than the Jimmies, but UJ responded late in large part thanks to senior Noelle Josephson. The Ramsey Minnesota native had a team-high 14 points and three rebounds to help lead the Jimmies to a comeback win.
Three other Jamestown players reached double figures, including Hannah DeMars who finished with 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Off the bench, Jailyn Martinson had 12 points and was a perfect 4-4 at the line. Kia Tower also added in 10 points and two assists for the Jimmies.
Dickinson State and UJ each shot 41% from the field, but the biggest difference came at the free throw line where the Jimmies hit 12-of-15 attempts compared to 4-of-11 for the Blue Hawks. Dickinson State went 11-of-27 from long range and Jamestown was held to 21% shooting from three.
With the win, the Jimmie women have now picked up six consecutive victories. Jamestown, now 10-4 on the year, will head to Fargo on Sunday for an exhibition game against NDSU. The next home game for the Jimmies will be January 1st against Morningside.
