VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The girls Valley City Hi-Liners basketball team were back on their home court looking to pick up their first victory of the season. They were welcoming a team into town who had the same 0-4 record in the Grand Forks Central Knights. Hi-Liners trailed at the half, but came back to win in the second half and pick up their first victory of the season 56-49.

The Hi-Liners did a nice job in the first half trying to dictate the play and playing to their strengths. However, the shots just would not fall for them early on. GF Central got 8 first half points from Ashley Gereau to give themselves the 24-20 lead at the break.

Coming out of halftime the Knights got a 3-pointer to go up by seven. After that, the shots started to fall for Valley City. Brooke Eggermont would dominate the boards, especially in the offensive zone and lead her team with 19-points (13 in the second half). The Hi-Liners also did a great job in forcing the Knights to turn the ball over, killing any momentum they would build up. Valley City fought hard from the start and played a hard game and deserved to come away with the 56-49 win.
