JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown gymnastics team returned to action on Tuesday night for its first home meet of the year, and the Blue Jays cruised to wins over Aberdeen Central and Wahpeton to take first place.

Three Blue Jays finished inside the top four in the all-around competition, led by senior Haley Nelson who was the all-around champion with a 36.550. Emma Hillerud took second in the all-around, putting up a score of 35.625, and Julia Skari placed fourth with a 34.375. Blair Arbuckle and Jasmine Houmann were both top 10 finishers in the as well for Jamestown.

Hillerud took first in two separate events on Tuesday night, leading on the beam with a 9.2, and scoring a 9.55 on her floor routine. Nelson posted a first place finish on vault with a 9.05, and placed second in every other event. Maggie Fites of Aberdeen Central was the only other competitor with a first place finish, scoring a 9.4 on bars, just edging out Nelson.

The Blue Jays get their first meet victory of the year and continue competition on Friday night in Valley City in a five team invitational. Jamestown will then head back to Valley City next Monday for a dual meet against the Hi-Liners.
