FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Both Hi-Liners basketball teams were in action and both teams were facing the Fargo Davies Eagles, and the Eagles were on the road to victory on this night as they sweep both games on the evening.
GIRL’S BASKETBALL: FARGO DAVIES 83 VALLEY CITY 63
The girls Hi-Liners basketball team traveled to take on the Fargo Davies Eagles looking to pick up their first win of the season. Unfortunately for Valley City, Fargo Davies jumped out early on the scoreboard and cruised to 83-63 victory.
The Eagles quickly jumped out to an 8-0 lead in this one. They would steal back to back in bound passes from the Hi-Liners and easily make the baskets, causing Valley City to burn 2 time outs just 42 seconds into the ball game. However, you have to give credit to Coach Jimmy Howard’s team as the girls settled down and actually brought the game to within 5 in the first half. They went into the half trailing 55-24.
Second half, the Eagles soared their way to victory. Hitting shots and dominating the glass on both ends of the floor. In the end, the Hi-Liners tried their best to hang around in this one, and they really did put up a great fight, but they fall in this one 83-63.
With the loss the girls Hi-Liners basketball team is now 0-4. The girls return home on Thursday night when they take on Grand Forks Central. Tip off is at 7:15PM, and can be heard on KOVC.

Coach Alex Quist had this to say following the game, “We had a hard time dealing with their pressure tonight and turned it over way too much. We’ll need to get stronger and smarter with the basketball going forward. There was still a lot of fight from our guys.”
