JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Nearly two weeks in, incoming Jamestown Parks & Recreation Director Amy Walters says she has her work cut out for her moving forward.

Operating first as the Facilities Manager for the Two Rivers Activity Center (TRAC) for 5 years, Walters was tapped to transition into the director role for Parks & Rec that Doug Hogan has held for 37 years.

She says she continues to learn and listen to Hogan, staff, and others to better understand the job and what the next steps will be.

An open house for Hogan has been set for December 16th from 4 to 6 PM at The Bunker. The public is invited to attend.

While she continues her transition, Walters continues to oversee TRAC and its operation. She added she is helping overseen her the hiring process of her previous post.

At this time they will adjust pool hours as they work through lifeguard shortages, offer different gift ideas and discount memberships, and starting in 2022, they’ll increase the rates of memberships.

In some of her first work as Director, Walters says she is working on outdoor ice rinks and hiring staff to man warming houses at the sites.
