Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—–The Carrington Cardinals gave up the first basket of the night on New Rockford-Sheyenne’s (NRS) first possession of the game and trailed 2-0. The Cardinals answered with a 12-0 run and cruised to a 31 point win. Leading 15-9 after the opening quarter the Cards poured in 27 second quarter points and created a 24 point lead at 42-18 at the break. Freshman Josh Bickett scored 13 of his game high 16 points in the second quarter including 3 three pointers and finished with a game high 4 made triples. Lucas Hendrickson (senior) added 14 points, 11 in the first half and Hudson Schmitz (junior) added 13 points for the Cards. Defensively, the Cards created 22 NRS turnovers with constant pressure on the ball.
The Rockets were paced by Nick Berglund with a team high 14 points. The Rockets dropped to 0-2 and the Cards open the season 1-0 and will travel to Maddock on Saturday.
