VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The third and final day of the 2021 Barnes County Girls Basketball tournament got started with a match up to decide who would finish in 5th place. The match up was between the Enderlin Eagles and the Barnes County North Bison. Both teams came into this game not having won a game in the first two days of the tournament. The Eagles jumped out quickly on the scoreboard and led after every quarter. Enderlin would get a double double from Genevieve Gruba (23 points, 10 rebounds) and win the game 62-19.

In the third place game, Wyndmere-Lidgerwood defeated Maple River 59-50. It was a back-and-forth affair with the first three quarters all being within three points or fewer. However, Wyndmere-Lidgerwood was able to outlast Maple River in the fourth quarter by outscoring them by 11. All of the Warbirds’ points came from four players: Gracie Kaczynski, Zoey Bohnenstingl, Taylor Buccholz and Emerson Johnson. Wyndmere-Lidgerwood shot the ball well overall, shooting 42% (21-50). The Warbirds only expended seven players with their four leading scorers all playing 28+ minutes.

The championship was between the two remaining unbeaten teams LaMoure/Litchville-Marion and Sargent County. The Loboes’ offense shined in the first half with 20 second quarter points and the Bulldogs were unable to keep up. LaMoure played lockdown defense in the third quarter giving up just eight points which allowed them to pull away. Sargent County outscored LaMoure in the fourth quarter, but they were unable to complete the comeback and the Loboes won 55-42 and were crowned the 2021 Girls Barnes County Tournament Champions.
