
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Day two of the 2021 Stutsman County Class B Girls Basketball Tournament was held at the Civic Center with two consolation games and two semifinal contests, here are the results:
Carrington 59 Napoleon/GS 32
The Cardinals are looking for their thrid straight Stutsman County Tournament Championship after leading start to finish against the Imperials on Friday night. Sydnie Grager finished with a game-high 24 points on 11-13 shooting from the field. Edyn Hoornaert added in 11 points for Carrington. On the other side for Napoleon, Teagan Erbele recorded a double-double, ending the night with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Carrington improves to 3-0 and the Imperials drop to 2-2.
Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier 53 Medina-Pingree-Buchanon 25
The stout defense of EKM controlled MPB throughout the entire game as the #2 seed from District 5 knocked off the #1 seed out of District 6. The Rebels were paced by Norah Entzi, who went 6-10 shooting for 16 points and grabbed five rebounds. Mataeya Mathern added in 12 more for EKM, and Emily Kinzler was one point shy of a double-double, ending the night with nine points and 10 rebounds. MPB shot 29% from the field and turned the ball over 27 times. The Thunder were led in scoring by Ryleigh Martin who had 11. EKM is now 3-0 on the year and MPB suffers their first loss, dropping to 2-1.
Ellendale 38 South Border 28
In the first consolation game of the day, the Ellendale Cardinals had to come back from an 18-9 deficit at halftime to defeat the Mustangs and advance to the consolation championship on Saturday. 6′ Junior Center Olivia Hagen helped the comeback for Ellendale with a double-double, 22 points and 20 rebounds. The Mustangs were led by 5’6″ Junior Guard Emily Jochim with 15 points, seven rebounds and eight steals. Ellendale picks up their first victory of the year and is now 1-3 overall, SB drops to 2-3 overall.
Griggs/Midkota 66 Warwick 26
The Titans of GM scored 26 points the entire first half, but poured in 40 in the second half to get the victory over the Warriors in the second consolation game. The Warriors scored only 10 points in the second half. GM had three players in double figures, Asia Becherl had 17 to lead all scorers, Amanda Reidman came in off the bench and had 11, including three 3-pointers, and Lauryn Halvorson 10. The Warriors had two players with seven points, Jayla Alberts and Bethany Brown. Warwick drops to 1-5 overall, GM improves to 2-2 overall.
