JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Whether it’s traveling to see family or finishing your holiday shopping, the Christmas season can be a busy time for all.

But Dr. Aaron McDermid, director of the University of Jamestown Choir, says their annual Christmas concert at the St. James Basilica helps bring the message of the season back to the forefront.

The 90-minute concert features a number of hymns and spoken word, all centered on the true meaning of Christmas.

Last year, the concert was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. McDermid says the unique concert experience is unlike most Christmas or choral programs many may traditionally see.

The University of Jamestown Christmas concert is typically held on a Friday and Saturday night with a Sunday matinee. However due to scheduling, the concert will be held December 9th, 10th, and 11th. Times are 7:30 PM Thursday and Friday with a 2 PM start time on Saturday.

Tickets are $12 per person and can be purchased ahead of time or at the door of the St. James Basilica. You can visit uj.edu for more information or email tickets@uj.edu to reserve yours.
