VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The 2021 Barnes County Girls Basketball Tournament was kickstarted by the LaMoure-Litchville-Marion Loboes and the Maple River Raiders. Both teams came out ready to go in this one as the score was quickly tied up at four apiece. LaMoure is looking to win this tournament for an incredible, sixth time in a row. They would get started off on the right foot with the win in their first game 46-34 over the Raiders.
The Loboes would get back to back 3-pointers from senior Molly Musland midway through the 3rd quarter to give her team the 12-point lead and really run away on the scoreboard. Again, LaMoure-Litchville-Marion wins their first game of the tournament over the Maple River Raiders 46-34.

In the second game, Sargent County and Enderlin squared off and it appeared that it would be a close one to the end at first. With a score of 25-23 at the half and 12 points from Enderlin junior forward Genevieve Gruba, the Eagles competed well and made their shots. However, Sargent County dominated all facets of the remaining 16 minutes allowing only one field goal make and 10 points. Sargent County senior Annika Nelson dominated in the paint racking up baskets left and right including making her final six attempts inside the three-point line. The Bulldogs played the more complete game won by a final score of 66-33.

In the final game of the day, Wyndmere-Lidgerwood played well in all facets of the game defeating Barnes County North handily by a final score of 64-27. The Warbirds’ dynamic duo of Gracie Kaczynski and Zoey Bohnenstingl were unstoppable and were able to get easy baskets in the fast break and the half-court offense. The Bison were overwhelmed by the defensive pressure of the Warbirds as they were able to get 17 steals. The third-seed cruised in the second half to pick up their first win of the tournament.
