SIOUX CITY, IA. (NewsDakota.com) – The #1 Jamestown women’s volleyball team suffered its first loss of the year on Friday night as the Jimmies fell to #4 Park in straight sets (25-15, 25-22, 25-11) in the NAIA semifinals.
UJ could never get rolling in the match on Friday, as Park jumped on the Jimmies early in the first set. Two-time NAIA Player of the Year Nada Meawad wracked up 10 kills in the opening set and went on to record 24 total kills while hitting .426. As a team, Jamestown was held to a .039 attack percentage while Park posted a .306 mark.
Jamestown was led by senior Anna Holen, who finished with nine kills and 11 digs. Corina Huff added in six kills with a .429 hitting percentage, and Jayla Ritter and Kalli Hegerle each had four kills. Ellie Holen led the Jimmies with 17 digs on the back row. Jackie Meiklejohn and Megan Gaffaney both handed out 10 assists in the loss.
Jamestown wraps up the season with a 35-1 overall record, the most wins in program history. The Jimmies reached the semifinals for the third consecutive year, and are back-to-back GPAC regular and postseason champions. UJ won 30 of its 35 matches in straight sets in 2021.
