JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – As the year winds down, hunters and anglers will still have plenty of opportunities to be outdoors.

North Dakota Game & Fish Wildlife Biologist Doug Leier says even though one of the bigger seasons in deer gun is done, the opportunities to hunt and fish are still out there.

The season for Canada geese closes Dec. 18 in the eastern zone, Dec. 23 in the western zone and Dec. 31 in the Missouri River zone. Light goose hunting closes statewide Dec. 31.

Archery deer, fall turkey, sharp-tailed and ruffed grouse, partridge and pheasant hunting seasons continue through Jan. 2, 2022.

The season for tree squirrels closes Feb. 28.

Leier says another opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts is their advisory meetings across the state.

The District 6 Advisory meeting on November 30th includes Barnes, Dickey, Foster, Griggs, Logan, LaMoure, McIntosh, Stutsman and Wells counties. It will be held at the American Legion in Wishek at 7pm, hosted by the Wishek Wildlife Club.
