FREMONT, Neb.– The University of Jamestown women’s basketball team struggled to find its shot from three-point range Saturday night, losing 64-50 at Midland University Saturday night.
Jamestown was an even 50 percent (18 of 36) on two-point shots, but hit on just three of 25 (12 percent) from beyond the three-point arc.
Kia Tower (JR/Bigfork, MN), Hannah DeMars (JR/Grand Rapids, MN), and Audrey Rodakowski (SO/Dickinson, ND) each had four points as the Jimmies led 12-10 at the end of one.
An 11-0 run to open the second quarter gave the Warriors a nine-point lead. UJ went 5:21 without a point until Kate Busek (FR/Fargo, ND)’s three-pointer stopped the Midland spree.
DeMars made a layup to tie the game at 21 with 1:28 before halftime, but Jamestown never regained the lead. Macy Savela (JR/Mountain Iron, MN) knocked down a three-pointer to make it 36-32 with 4:32 remaining in the third, and the Warriors ended the quarter by scoring nine of the final ten points.
Despite only taking six shots in the fourth, Midland still outscored Jamestown 19-17 thanks to a 10-for-16 performance at the foul line. UJ was whistled for 30 fouls on the night.
Tower led Jamestown with 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists. DeMars added 12 points and five rebounds, and Josephson ended with nine points and three steals.
The Jimmies, now 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the GPAC, are at Concordia (Neb.) on Tuesday.
