JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – For 29 years, the Community Thanksgiving at Concordia Lutheran Church has provided food, fellowship, and a place for people to go.

While it looks a little different heading into its 30th year, volunteer Amy Nuestel says they’re just excited to have it return in some capacity.

Normally, the church opens its doors from 11 AM to 1 PM for a sit-down meal, but for the safety of their church and volunteers, Nuestel says they will focus entirely on a drive-thru system and deliveries.

Nuestel says the community meal has a long history and was created for those who may otherwise have no place to go on Thanksgiving.

Because of its continued popularity, Nuestel says they could also use volunteers for the event.

The meal is assisted by Cashwise Foods and the University of Jamestown allows volunteers to prepare the meal in their campus kitchen. Nuestel says they will prepare up to 700 meals for the day.

The meal consists of turkey, homemade stuffing, corn, cranberries, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin bars.

Drive-thru and delivery will begin at 11 AM and go until 1 PM. The church is located at 502 1st Ave N. To volunteer, scheduled meal delivery, or ask questions, contact Concordia Lutheran Church at 701-252-2819.
