JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown women’s basketball didn’t budge when trailing by 14 points in the second half and as a result, the Jimmies took down Dakota Wesleyan 78-75 in overtime.

Jamestown trailed by eight points going into the halftime break after shooting just 24% in the first half. Late in the third, the Jimmies went on a 10-0 in the final two minutes to bring the game within one going into the fourth.

Dakota Wesleyan was able to extend the lead back to five before Kia Tower and Hannah DeMars helped take over on the offense side for Jamestown. The Tigers and Jimmies went back and forth in the fourth before Tower hit a game-tying layup with thirty seconds to go to force overtime.

In overtime, Jamestown would get to the line early and often, converting seven of nine opportunities. The Jimmies would block a last-second midcourt heave from Dakota Wesleyan to pick up their first conference win of the season.

DeMars and Tower led Jamestown with 16 points each in the overtime win. Noelle Josephson had another impressive game, finishing with 15 points, eight steals, and seven rebounds.

Off the bench, freshman Megan Oswald had the best game of her young career, scoring 10 points, grabbing five offensive rebounds, and four steals. Freshman Madelyn Schmidt added in nine more points to go along with two rebounds, and Jailyn Martinson had seven more for the Jimmies.

Jamestown improves to 4-2 on the year and 1-1 overall in the GPAC. The Jimmies return to play on Saturday night on the road in Fremont against Midland.
