JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Public School District Superintendent Dr. Rob Lech gave the Jamestown Public School Board the latest on the facility project updates for the district.
Dr. Lech reports that recently, the school board’s Facility Committee met with Mike Barsness of Consolidated Construction to get updated on the design process, timelines, and future board actions necessary for the completion of projects.
Dr. Lech says the board has established a fixed cost of $850,000 with not many variabilities to consider. The biggest concern is delivery time of the prefabricated metal building.
The primary projects to be funded are noted in the Capital Projects Plan. They include a health and wellness addition and potential roofing at the High School, HVAC and window replacement at the Middle School, and full HVAC replacement at Gussner Elementary.
Dr. Lech says estimates have come in lower, which is a positive for the school district and has freed up funding for other projects.
He says the complexity of the Middle School and Gussner projects won’t be fully learned until design is complete.
Dr. Lech says timelines will be updated soon with highlighted areas that will require board action.
Also in his report, Dr. Lech says they are continuing to stay vigilant with studying their date on a daily basis when it comes to the Health and Safety plan. He also reports the process has begun for the two-year calendar planning, which will be brought forward to the December School Board meeting.
