WATERTOWN, S.D. (PlayNorthStar.com) – The 2021 North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) announced its All-Conference volleyball teams and postseason awards Thursday evening.  Awards were given out during the honors reception at the Ramkota Inn & Convention Center on the eve of the North Star Volleyball conference postseason tournament at Civic Arena.

Viterbo (Wis.) won the 2021 NSAA Volleyball regular-season conference outright, finishing with a perfect record of 14-0 in conference contests this season.

The six-team postseason tournament kicks off Friday morning with No. 6 seed Presentation (S.D.) taking on No. 3 seed Dakota State (S.D.) at 10 a.m. (Central Time), followed by No. 5 seed Mayville State (N.D.) versus No. 4 seed Valley City State (N.D.) at 12 p.m.  No. 1 seed Viterbo and No. 2 seed Bellevue received the first-round bye and will play in the evening session on Friday.

Miah Garant of Viterbo was selected as the NSAA Volleyball Player-of-the-Year.  She was also chosen as the conference’s Offensive Player-of-the-Year.  Her teammate Adrianna Reinhart was selected as NSAA Libero-of-the-Year.  Olivia Galas of Bellevue was named to the NSAA Setter-of-the-Year for the third consecutive year.  BU’s Haley Fleischman was chosen as the league’s Freshman-of-the-Year.

Ryan DeLong of Viterbo’s was selected as the North Star Athletic Association’s Volleyball Coach-of-the-Year, guiding the V-Hawks to the NAIA national ranking No. 2 with an overall record of 35-1 in the regular-season.

A total of 14 players are listed on the 2021 NSAA Volleyball All-Conference First-Team.  Eight players are named on the Second-Team All-Conference distinction.  A total of nine players returned as All-Conference from last season and two seasons ago, including eight players on the First-Team All-Conference.

Viterbo landed six selections – five athletes on First Team – on the NSAA Volleyball All-Conference.  Bellevue has five recipients on the all-conference teams, with four athletes on the First Team.

The North Star Athletic Association Champions of Character recipients were also honored at the banquet.

The NSAA All-Conference teams and postseason awards were selected by the league coaches.
