FARGO, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – For the first time since 1991, LaMoure-Litchville/Marion can hoist a state title in 9B football as the Loboes rolled past Caviler 42-14 at the Fargodome Friday morning.
It was a scoreless ballgame entering the second quarter before the Loboes found the endzone for the first time when junior Brady Lettenmeier went 76-yards to paydirt to give LaMoure a 6-0 advantage. Three minutes later, the Loboes scored again, this time on a Corban Potts quarterback sneak from one yard out. The touchdown for Potts was one of three rushing scores for the senior.
The Loboes took a 20-8 lead into the half and opened up the second by recovering an onside kick. While that drive didn’t produce a score, Potts would find the endzone late in the third to give LaMoure a commanding 28-8 advantage.
Early in the fourth, Tate Mart took an end-around from Potts and turned the corner to score from 12-yards out to put the dagger in the Tornadoes. LLM rushed for 274 total yards and five rushing touchdowns. Potts went 9-18 passing for 154 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Lettenmeier was the lead rusher for LaMoure, carrying the ball 32 times for 210 yards and a score. Potts three rushing scores came behind 11 total carries, and Anthony Hanson was the lead receiver for the Loboes with three catches for 80 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, the Loboes were led by Garrett Hebl who finished with 10.5 tackles. LaMoure picked off Cavalier two different times in the second half, with Mart hauling in his seventh INT of the year and Charlie Bowman also getting an interception. LLM held Cavalier to 268 total yards of offense.
The Loboes capped off their perfect season with a 12-0 record and the first state title in 30 years. Head Coach Andy Delabarre was named the 9B Coach of the Year for North Dakota.
