TOWER CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Katie Zaun has a number of rifle competition records and accomplishments as a Senior with the Maple Valley School District.

On November 10th, Zaun accepted an offer from Texas Christian University (TCU) to be on their shooting team. She talked about the excitement of joining the private universities shooting team in the fall of 2022. She also complimented her high school coach Dan Geurts for his guidance during her junior high and senior high career.

Katie Zaun has 25 North Dakota state records, 21 NRA National records, 10 USAS National records and two CMP National records.

She qualified for Junior Olympics nine times and has brought home 12 medals. She talked about her international competitions.

Zaun is a seven time NRA Champion, two time CMP 3P Air National Champion, USA Shooting Junior Women’s Smallbore Champion, Junior Olympic Women’s Smallbore Champion, Member of the U.S. Junior National Team for five years and three time Eley High School All American in both rifles.

Her mother, Sara Zaun, said the family is so excited about what the future holds for Katie.

The signing ceremony was held in the Maple Valley High School gym in Tower City, N.D. on Wednesday, November 10th.
