JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Final details of the Bison World project are expected in December.
Bison World is a proposed, non-profit theme attraction in Jamestown. The concept was born out of an effort to improve the Frontier Village and has since evolved into a $72.5 million cultural theme park on land owned by the State of North Dakota and leased by the National Buffalo Museum.
The project would feature history of the bison, an amphitheater, shopping area, aerial rides over the buffalo pasture and more.
Spearheaded by Brian Lunde and Apogee Attractions, work is currently being done to finalize architectural and engineering designs. The JSDC authorized $600,000 in economic development funds to complete the work.
It’s reported the comprehensive plans for the project will be presented in December and made public immediately following.
“Robert McTyre, founder of Apogee Attractions, will present the comprehensive plans for this new theme park on state-owned land near Jamestown,” Lunde stated. “The final plans are the culmination of a 22-month planning process with Apogee Attractions, one of the nation’s leading theme park designers, in consultation with the North Dakota Division of Tourism.
Lunde says the plans are ready to be executed immediately upon securing funding.
The project hopes to tap into tax earnings from the North Dakota Legacy Funds, which currently sits at more than $8 billion.
McTyre founded Apogee Attractions to develop projects around the world and to provide professional services in all areas of the themed entertainment industry. Since it’s inception, Apogee Attractions has founded such attractions as Disney World and Knott’s Berry Farm.
