JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown High School (JHS) Drama is presenting Christopher M. Walsh’s Miss Holmes on November 18th and 19th at 7 p.m. both nights in the JHS Theater.
“This is JHS Drama’s first performance since being named State Champions at the NDHSAA Class A One-Act Play Competition this past spring,” states Tony McIntyre, drama teacher at Jamestown High School. “We can’t wait to perform this mystery for our Jamestown audience.
Miss Holmes is a reimagination of classic Sir Arthur Conan Doyle detective, Sherlock Holmes. In Walsh’s play, Sherlock and Watson must pursue a new mystery while also dealing with being women in Victorian England. The play deals with the challenges these classic characters would face in their day and age if they weren’t men. Both Sherlock and Watson fight to be taken seriously while working to help the women of London who are often pushed aside. This original Holmes mystery is filled with lots of interesting characters, familiar and new, and the story is filled with lots of twists and drama.
“The play involves 25 actors and 9 more students fill the crew,” McInytre added. “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase so many talented students, and it’s been exciting to portray characters who our audience may have some familiarity with coming into the performance in a new way.”
Miss Holmes is produced through special arrangement with the Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Illinois.
Tickets for the performances are $6 for adults, and $4 for students.
