JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The local non-profit, no-kill shelter will be using the upcoming winter to complete some needed repairs.

The James River Humane Society has some work to complete during the colder months. Board member Jay Nitschke says they’ve already begun some of the needed work.

In the meantime, Nitschke says they’re always seeking monetary or supply donations to maintain operations.

Every year, Jamestown dealerships go head-to-head to collect the most items to be donated through the shelter. Nitschke says you can take supplies to your dealership of choice in the competition and all items will be donated to the shelter at the end of November.

Nitschke says other ways you can help the shelter is by going to smile.amazon.com to select the Humane Society as a charity to benefit from your online shopping. You can also donate aluminum cans at Porter Brothers and state you want the profits to go to the shelter.

She added they have also updated their website at jamesriverhumanesociety.org. You can visit their site for the latest information, fundraisers, donations, or adoptions.
