JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – A concerted effort on offense and defense for the Jamestown volleyball team on Tuesday night helped lead the Blue Jays to a straight-set victory over Legacy (25-14, 25-15, 25-14) to round out the regular season.

It was a spread-out attack on the offensive side as four different Blue Jays ended the night with more than five kills, led by Katie Falk who finished with eight. Bernadette Newman and Haylie Hakanson added in seven kills apiece, and Hunter Petersen tacked on five more. Jamestown’s block upfront also played a big part in an all-around victory.

The service pressure from Jamestown was heavy from the start as the Blue Jays ended with eight aces. Junior Aspyn Peterson had a match-high three aces and Newman concluded the night with two. Jamestown’s defense was exceptional against the serve and all night long, allowing Legacy just one ace.

“Our serve receive tonight was so good,” head coach Sara Hegerle said postgame. “that was by far our best passing effort of the season… we controlled the tempo from the very first contact.”

The Blue Jays wrap up the regular season at 23-11 overall and 14-6 in the WDA. Jamestown will be the number three seed headed into the WDA tournament and will take on the winner of Mandan versus Turtle Mountain. The WDA tournament takes place November 11-13 in Watford City.
