JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown United Way is returning one of their successful 2020 events this Friday, October 29th.
United Way is an international network of over 1,800 local nonprofit fundraising affiliates. The local chapter raises funds for more than 12 local agencies through different channels and events. They also tap into events to raise awareness about what they do and the services they provide.
Last year, the group held a drive-thru trick-or-treating event at McElroy Park. Member Becky Kercher says they’re excited to return the event this year.
“The second annual Nierling Fund Trick or Treat is a drive-through style trick or treating event,” Kercher says. “United Way volunteers will pass out treat bags in McElroy Park. This is a free event, made possible by the Nierling Fund.”
Kercher says the Nierling Fund was created thanks to money left to United Way by the late Dr. Nierling.
“[He] left money in order to provide community resources and activities for Jamestown children and families,” Kercher added.
United Way is also looking for new board members and volunteers. For more information, visit their Facebook page here, visit jamestownunitedway.org. or call 701-952-UWAY (8929).
