JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Some families have Christmas. Others have the 4th of July.

The Walters family of Jamestown has Halloween.

Marty Walters spearheads the Shadow Valley Cemetery in Jamestown.

What can be seen in the Walters’ yard today is much different from the cardboard cutouts, ghosts made of sheets, and tombstones made out of pink insulation.

Walters added that the reaction is what makes his setup every year worth the work.

With all the sights and sounds, Walters doesn’t do it alone. He says he gets a lot of support from his family, neighbors, and visitors.

When it comes to planning the extensive scene, Walters says there really is no plan other than the ideas he’s come up with. And it’s different from year to year.

Walters says they welcome anyone to drive by, stop and admire, and of course leave a non-perishable food donation. He added he was appreciative of the support he’s received and looks forward to many more visitors and cemeteries in the future.

Lights go up in the cemetery from 6 PM to around 9:30 PM each evening, extending those hours on the weekend through October 31st.
