JAMESTOWN, ND. (jimmiepride.com) – The 23rd-ranked University of Jamestown women’s soccer team improved to 14-0 with a 2-0 win over Dordt (Iowa) University Wednesday night at the Jimmie Turf Field.

Jamestown moved up two spots in the latest NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, released earlier in the day. The Jimmies are tied with Oregon Tech and remain one of three unbeaten and untied teams in the top 25.

Iliana Ramirez (FR/Marysville, Wash.) opened the scoring in the seventh minute, knocking in a cross by Penelope Hoppe (SR/Temecula, Calif.). There appeared to be some confusion in front of the Dordt net, but the bounce came off of Ramirez for a 1-0 Jimmie lead.

UJ doubled their lead in the 49th minute on a superb 20-yard strike from Eve Hoppe (SO/Temecula, Calif.). Following a throw in, Kamryn Fiscus (JR/Yakima, Wash.) took possession of the ball and manuevered past her defender. A left-footed pass found Hoppe in stride, and she needed just one dribble before a right-footed shot just inside the left post.

The Defenders put two shots on target in the 50th and 53rd minutes but were denied by Jimmie keeper Alex Nowka (JR/Anchorage, Alaska). Dordt had one more attempt on goal in the 87th minute.

Shots were 19-7 in favor of Jamestown. The Jimmies had 10 shots on goal while Dordt had five. Nowka recorded her eighth clean sheet of the season, one away from her career high.

UJ, now 14-0 and 9-0 in the GPAC, are on the road Saturday at College of Saint Mary (Neb.)
