SIOUX CITY, IA. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown men’s basketball team was picked to finish second in the GPAC and the women’s team was selected to finish sixth in the preseason GPAC Coaches Poll which was released on Wednesday.

The UJ men’s team received five out of 11 first place votes and 95 total points, just behind Morningside who was picked to finish at the top of the GPAC. The Jimmies went 22-9 last season, with a 14-6 GPAC record and made it to the NAIA quarterfinals.

For the Jimmie women’s team, they finished just in front of Dakota Wesleyan with 72 points in the preseason coaches poll. Jamestown went 12-10 in the conference last season and 15-11 overall. UJ returns all five of its top scorers from last season, and the men’s and women’s teams open up the regular season tonight at Dickinson State with tipoff set for 6:30 pm.
