JAMESTOWN, ND. (Jimmiepride.com) – The 13th-ranked University of Jamestown hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Midland (Neb.) University, winning 2-1 Saturday evening at Wilson Arena.

The Jimmies will have an off-day Sunday before starting a two-game series at home Monday against third-ranked Liberty.

Jake Huculak (SO/Jasper, Alberta)’s unassisted power play goal at 8:08 of the first gave Jamestown a 1-0 lead, then Bo Cornell (SO/Legal, Alberta)’s first collegiate goal at 15:19, assisted by Jason Richter (SR/Kimberly, British Columbia), made it 2-0 Jimmies.

Midland scored a power play goal with 35 seconds left in the first as Wlliam Chun took a pass from Trevor Timm and beat UJ goaltender Tyson Brouwer (SR/Lethbridge, Alberta) to cut the Jamestown lead to one.

Despite outshooting Midland 36-23 over the final forty minutes, the Jimmies were unable to add a third goal and held on for the one-goal victory.

Brouwer finished with 33 saves. UJ was 1 of 4 on the power play while the Warriors were 1 of 3.
