JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Public School Board discussed recent food service challenges in the district.
The Jamestown Public School District has received service from Cashway. In previous years, the district joined the North Dakota Education Services Cooperative (NDESC) 5 years ago. The NDESC conducts its own bidding for food services to maximize savings.
Superintendent Dr. Rob Lech reports that through the early part of the school year, there have been concerns and the receipt of stock has been “regularly problematic.”
Dr. Lech says NDESC schools were informed by Cashway that they would no longer honor their bid and stop their services after November 2nd.
To address this cut service, Food Service Director Joseph Oster privately talked with different providers to service Jamestown Public Schools.
Dr. Lech says the board will need to assess if bidding for food service would be better to do on their own or if they’d like to continue working through NDESC in the future.
In other school board business, the board will be conducting a superintendent evaluation and will also explore E-care to maximize school nursing services across the district.
