GLENFIELD, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Senior OH Jenna Larson had a match high 14 kills but it wasn’t enough for the Titans as the Carrington Cardinals defeat Griggs/Midkota 3-1 Monday night in District 5 volleyball (22-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-13). Carrington improves to 16-9 overall and 4-2 in D5 and will be the three seed in the upcoming D5 tournament in Lamoure starting Oct. 28th. GM drops to 10-10-1 overall and 3-3 in D5.
The Titans won the first set in a close one, with help from Larson who had four kills, Kaylee Johnson added an ace and two kills. The Cardinals came back and cruised in set two to tie the match at one each. In set three, there were seven ties at 1, 7, 8, 9, 12, 16 and 17. The Cardinals outscored the Titans 8-3 to get the victory and go ahead 2-1. In set four, Kennedy Wendel provided some big hits and a stuff block to help the Cardinals get the victory.
Next up for Carrington will be on Tuesday night in Carrington against Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter, KDAK will have the varsity match about 7pm.
