JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown football team struggled to find momentum on Saturday afternoon as #2 Northwestern came to Rollie Greeno Field and took down the Jimmies, 63-7.
Northwestern was able to control both sides of the ball throughout the game, totaling 774 yards of offense. Three different quarterbacks had touchdown passes for the Red Raiders, including starter Blake Fryar who went 19-27 for 251 yards and four touchdowns. On the ground, Northwestern totaled 286 yards, with Logan Meyer leading the way with 86 yards on 14 carries.
Offensively for the Jamestown, they were held to 152 total yards, 130 of which came from Cade Torgerson through the air. Torgerson finished the afternoon by going 15-32 with one touchdown and an interception. Javon Bowie had two catches for 44 yards and the lone Jimmie touchdown. Micah Madyun was the leading receiver with five grabs for 39 yards.
UJ was able to force three turnovers on the defensive side, with Rashawn Benners collecting an interception and a fumble recovery. Colin Kok had the other turnover, recovering a fumble that was forced by Colton Sandberg.
Jamestown now holds a 2-5 overall record and is 2-4 in the GPAC this season. The Jimmies are set to wrap up the three-game homestand next Saturday at 1 pm against Briar Cliff. #2 Northwestern is now 7-0 and heads to Dakota Wesleyan next week.
