JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School volleyball team fell in straight sets on Thursday night (25-19, 29-27, 25-21) by the Bismarck High Demons.

Jamestown couldn’t find a groove early on in the first set until late, but the Blue Jays were able to use some of the late momentum in set one into set two. In the second set, Jamestown led throughout until a late surge from Bismarck High at the service line, resulting in an overtime victory in the second set. The Demons were then able to take the third set, coming back from down early to sweep Jamestown.

Hunter Petersen led the Blue Jay attack, finishing as the only attacker in double-digit kills with 12. Bernadette Newman added in eight more kills, and Katie Falk had seven for Jamestown. Katie Trumbauer was the leader in assists, totaling 15 on the match and Makenna Nold finished with eight assists and two kills. Jamestown’s lone service ace on the evening came from Trumbauer, and Annie Nabwe led the defense upfront with two and a half blocks.

Jamestown now sits with an 18-10 overall record, dropping to 9-5 in the WDA. Bismarck High is 22-4 on the year and improved to 12-1 in the conference standings, good for second place. The Blue Jays take on Williston at Jerry Meyer Arena on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 pm.
