Clay County, MN (NewsDakota.com) – The Clay County Sheriffs department responded to a 2 vehicle accident involving a school bus with injuries Thursday morning.  There were several reported injuries including one student being airlifted to a Fargo Hospital. The bus was from the Ada-Borup School District.

Here is the news release from the Clay County Sheriffs Department:

On 10/14/21 at approximately 0729 hours, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office along with other area Fire and Rescue groups were dispatched to a report of an injury accident involving a school bus at the intersection of 190th Avenue North and 40th Street. We were informed there were 3-4 students on the bus that were injured. The other vehicle involved was a pickup pulling an enclosed construction trailer.
On arrival, we found four students on the school bus that were injured and were being attended to by the school bus driver and other passing motorists. One student was transported to a Fargo Hospital by Airmed, two were transported by Sanford Ambulance and one was transported by a Norman County Ambulance, all with non-life threating injuries. The driver of the pickup was transported to a Fargo hospital with significant injuries, but non-life threating.
The driver of the pickup was northbound on 40th Street and the school bus was eastbound. The intersection does have a yield sign for both northbound and southbound traffic to yield and it appears the driver of pickup failed to yield for the sign. We are continuing with the investigation into the crash and will be viewing video from the school bus.
The school bus was out of Ada-Borup Schools and the school was notifying parents while we were on scene.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol, Sanford Ambulance, Airmed, Red River Regional Dispatch Center, Felton Fire and Rescue, Perley Fire and Rescue, Hendrum Fire and Rescue, Ada Fire and Rescue, Harwood Fire and Rescue, Norman County Ambulance, and passing motorists that assisted the children until we arrived on scene.
