FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City made the trip to Shanley High School, the home of the Deacons, looking to do what Shanley had done to them in September, win on their opponents home court. Hi-Liners would pull off the upset tonight winning in 4 sets. The scores were 25-23 VC, 25-23 VC, 25-13 Shanley, and 25-20 VC.

In the first set both teams jostled for points. However, at one point in the match up the Hi-Liners held a six point lead.  They would get great performances from Samantha Hatcher and Peyton Pederson on their way to the 25-23 victory.

In the second set both teams once against took turns exchanging points. Unlike the first set, this game was back and forth the entire time, and the difference maker in this one for the Hi-Liners was Addy Kvilvang, who was a force in the front row. Hi- Liners take this set 25-23.

In the third set Shanley played the same way they had last month when they came to Valley City in their win. Strong mid-court play from Ricki George, and stellar play up front from Senior Paige McAllister. At one point in this match McAllister registered four points in a row. Shanley took this set 25-13.

In the fourth set Valley City jumped out to a five point lead. Addy Kvilvang once again was spectacular in the front row with a numerous amount of rejections. Hi-Liners got out to a comfortable lead down the stretch only to see in dwindle to within two points. Coach Rebekah DePesa called a time out to calm her team down and that was the exact play the team needed. Valley City would go on to close out the fourth set with the 25-20 win.

Hi-Liners return home on Thursday night when they welcome West Fargo Sheyenne to town, first match is set for 7PM and can be heard on KOVC.
