JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – On a rainy day at Rollie Greeno Field, the University of Jamestown’s comeback fell just short as the Jimmies lost 24-17 to Concordia.

Concordia took a 7-0 lead into the second quarter before Jamestown tied it up when Cade Torgerson connected with Isaiah Roebuck for a 33-yard score. The Bulldogs responded by scoring the final 10 points of the first half to lead 17-7 at the break.

On the second UJ drive of the second half, Jamestown went 37 yards in nine plays to set up Izaak Myles for a 24-yard field goal that Myles connected on to bring it to 17-10. Early in the fourth, Concordia freshman quarterback DJ McGarvie found Korell Koehlmoos from 20 yards out for Koehlmoos’ second touchdown of the afternoon.

Later on in the fourth with just over eight minutes to go, the Jimmies brought it back within one score when Carlos Julian found paydirt on an 11-yard reverse with Javon Bowie. Julian ended the game as the leading rusher for Jamestown, carrying the ball eight times for 32 yards and a score.

Jamestown’s defense picked up a stop to give the offense one last chance to drive down the field and tie the game. The Jimmies found their way into Concordia territory with 3rd and 1 before the Bulldogs got a big sack with 20 seconds left that eventually led to the end of the game and a win for the Bulldogs.

Torgerson finished the day by going 26-52 for 253 yards and one touchdown. Micah Madyun was the leading receiver for Jamestown, hauling in nine receptions for 76 yards. Roebuck and Marcus Giles both had 44 yards receiving as well for the Jimmies, and Bowie finished with four catches for 38 yards.

UJ is now set to host #2 Northwestern next Saturday at 1 pm. The Jimmies now hold a 2-4 overall record and are 2-3 in the GPAC this season.
