OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes volleyball team once again did not mess around in their home match versus Griggs-Midkota. Oakes won the match in three straight sets by a score of 25-14, 25-12, 25-12. The Tornadoes have not lost a set at home since August 31st against Lisbon.
Oakes was very aggressive in their serving game and it paid off. Lots of aces and forcing the Titans to be in uncomfortable positions when returning created a lot of their points Tuesday night.
At the net, they got a lot of kills from junior Laikyn Roney and senior Abby Cox with some from sophomore Lily Thorpe, freshman Brianna Schmitz, junior Sam Meehl and freshman Ann Muggli. Cox and sophomore Bethany Harris also performed exceptionally with their passes. Junior Brynn Dethlefsen, junior Aspen Hill, sophomore Paige Bakke, senior Sam Hermes and freshman Kassidy Jackson also made major contributions in their win as well.
The Tornadoes improve to 4-1 in district play and will be participating in a tournament at Langdon Area High School on Saturday before an important road match at Carrington next Tuesday.
