LEAL, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Carrington Cardinals improve to 3-1 in District 5 play Tuesday night as they cruise to victory over the Bison of Barnes County North 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-15). The Cardinals improve to 9-6-2 overall and 3-1 in D5, BCN drops to 0-11 overall and 0-3 in D5.
The Bison jumped out early in the first set, leading 6-1, then the Cardinals came back to tie at 7, 8 and 9 and outscored the Bison 16-5 to secure the first set victory. Set two had four ties early on, but Carrington pulled away for the set two victory. In set three, once again three ties early on, but the Cardinals secured the win with some big kills by Grager and Wolsky. Senior Sydnie Grager led the match with 15 kills, followed by Haley Wolsky with six. Hannah Wieland had five for BCN.
Next up for Carrington will be the Carrington Volleyball tourney on Saturday, October 9th. Matches start at 8am. The Cardinals are in pool A, will play in the West gym and will take on Griggs/Midkota at 8am, Strasburg/Zeeland at 930am and Velva at 11am. The 8a and 11a matches will be on KDAK, and the tournament in the afternoon for Carrington.
