VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – On a dreary Friday afternoon, athletes from the Valley City cross country team passed the football onto Jamestown prior to the Jamestown-Valley City rivalry game on Friday night.

While a relatively new tradition, the weather did not stop both teams from meeting to hand off the ball.  Athletes from the Valley City cross country team began running from Valley City and would meet the Jamestown team in Eckelson.  Small groups ran 5-mile increments before another group would continue the trek for them.

The ball will be returned to Valley City when the Hi-Liners host the next rivalry game.
