LEAL, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The number nine rated Oakes Tornadoes dominated the first two sets and held on in set three to pull out the 3-0 victory over the Bison of Barnes County North Thursday night (25-7, 25-4, 25-21). Oakes improves to 12-5 overall and 3-1 in D5, BCN drops to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in D5
The Tornadoes served up 14 aces to help them runaway with sets one and two, Laikyn Roney had six of them. Set three was much closer and more competitive, the Bison led early on and there were a total of seven ties, Hannah Wieland led the way for the Bison with five kills. Senior Abby Cox had a match high 11 kills and two aces for Oakes.
Next up for No. 9 Oakes will be on Tuesday at home against Griggs/Midkota, KDDR will have the match starting about 7pm.
