JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – As the leaves take on the colors of fall, Jamestown Tourism is taking time to reflect on the positives of the 2021 summer for the area.

Jamestown Tourism Executive Director Searle Swedlund says the great turnout not only applied to Frontier Village, the World’s Largest Buffalo, or National Buffalo Museum, but rather multiple sites in the community.

Swedlund says “pent-up demand” from the pandemic lead to an increase of event participation and site visitation.

He added this spilled over into their sites seeing an increase too compared to the 2019 summer.

Swedlund attributed the growth of road trips and new website with the increase they saw over the summer. He says focusing on different digital media tools will continue to perform well for Jamestown Tourism.

Now that the fall and winter is approaching, Swedlund says they’ll shift their attention to Frontier Village and what they can do to help maintain and upkeep what they have.

It was also a record setting September for different events in Jamestown including big numbers for the 50th Annual Stockcar Stampede at the Jamestown Speedway and the 10th Annual Huntington’s 5K and Car Show.
