ELLENDALE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) In District 5 Volleyball Tuesday night, Carrington won 3-0 over the Ellendale Cardinals (25-15, 25-22, 29-27). Carrington improves to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in D5, Ellendale drops to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in D5.
In the first set, there were five ties early on, but then Carrington pulled away for the victory, the next two sets were much closer. Carrington had to come from behind in both sets to get the sweep. Senior middle blocker Sydnie Grager helped Carrington come back after being down by as many as five in set two, Grager had seven of her match high 14 kills in the set to help the comeback. In an exciting set three, there were a total of nine ties, Carrington fought their way back from a 19-12 deficit and pulled out the victory in extras. Haley Wolsky and Emma Hone added six kills each for Carrington. Mackenzie Thorpe had five kills for Ellendale, Shelby Miller and Avery Rotondi added four.
Next up for Carrington will be on Thursday against Benson County, KDAK will have the varsity match starting about 715pm.
