JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown football team suffered its first home loss of the year on Saturday as Midland took down the Jimmies 33-22.

The Jamestown offense got moving early in the first quarter, scoring on its second drive of the game. A three-play, 48-yard drive resulted in a touchdown pass from Cade Torgerson to tailback Frankie Ingraldi for 40 yards. The Jimmies would score again late in the first quarter with Torgerson’s second touchdown pass of the day, finding Micah Madyun for 26 yards to put UJ ahead 14-7.

Jamestown took a 14-13 lead into the halftime break, but Midland came out of the half and scored 13 points in the third quarter to go in front 26-13. The Warriors then put Jamestown behind by 19 after a 92-yard rushing touchdown on third and long broke the Jimmie defense. UJ would find paydirt one more time with Torgerson hitting Javon Bowie-Monteiro and Madyun catching the two-point conversion.

Torgerson finished the day 20-37 with 303 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Madyun was once again the leading receiver, catching five balls for 110 yards. It’s the third week in a row that Torgerson and Madyun have combined for more than 100 yards through the air. Bowie-Monterio had a game-high 7 receptions for 72 yards and one score.

Defensively, Jamestown forced Midland into three mistakes in the first half, all interceptions. Jordan Olson got his second and third interceptions of the season, and freshman Rob Anderson had his first career pick for the UJ defense. The Jimmies are now 2-2 on the year and 2-1 in the GPAC, and Jamestown travels to Doane next Saturday to face the Tigers (1-3) for a 1 pm kickoff.
