MINOT, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The #2 Jamestown High School girls volleyball team snapped its one-match losing skid on Thursday as the Blue Jays swept Minot (26-24, 25-18, 25-23) to improve to 6-2 in the WDA this season.
Junior Bernadette Newman led Jamestown on the attack, finishing with 11 kills and adding two digs. Hunter Petersen, who has the most kills for the Blue Jays in WDA play this season with 84, tallied eight kills in the straight-set victory. Katie Falk collected seven kills on the evening while Annie Nabwe and Haylie Hakanson each had five kills.
Katie Trumbauer provided 19 assists in the middle for the Blue Jays, with sophomore Makenna Nold grabbing eight assists. Nold added three service aces, and Trumbauer had one. Trumbauer also helped anchor down the backline with seven digs, but it was libero Jenna Fischer who finished as the team leader in digs with 12. The victory was the fourth sweep of the season for Jamestown in WDA action.
The next match for the Blue Jays is next Thursday at 7 pm against St. Mary’s. Jamestown (12-3, 6-2) only has six home matches remaining in the 2021 season.
