Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-The Carrington girls volleyball team defeated New Rockford-Sheyenne (NRS) 3-0 (25-12. 25-21, 25-18) in a battle of 1 loss teams entering the night. NRS had the early momentum in set 1 leading 5-1 early but the Cardinals stormed back to dominate the opening set with a 25-12 victory. Carrington escaped in set 2 with a 25-21 victory before putting the match away with a 25-18 win in the third set. The Cardinals were paced offensively by senior middle hitter Sydnie Grager’s match high 16 kills. The 6′ Grager added 2 stuff blocks and paced the Cards in all 3 sets with 4 kills in the first set & 6 kills in both the second & third sets. Haley Wolsky (5’9 junior outside hitter) added 10 kills & a match high 3 stuff blocks. Wolsky also added a match high 3 service aces. Allison Jarrett (5’5 junior outside hitter) added 9 kills to aid the Carrington offensive attack. Senior setter Emma Rindy recorded a match high 31 assists.
NRS was led by Kelsie Belquist (5’7 sophomore outside hitter) with 6 kills and Madi Myhre (5’10 junior middle hitter) added 5 kills. The Rockets dropped to 7-2 overall & Carrington improved to 4-1 & will host Langdon & Central Cass Saturday afternoon in a triangular at Carrington High School. The Cards will play Central Cass at 2:00 P.M and Langdon at approximately 5:00 P.M. Both matches will be aired on AM 1600 KDAK (THE CARDINAL), FM 100.1, and www.newsdakota.com
