JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The #2 University of Jamestown women’s volleyball team improved to 12-0 overall on the year on Wednesday night with a four set victory (25-15, 25-20, 24-26, 25-14) over #5 Dordt.

It was a rowdy crowd inside of Harold Newman Arena in the first home match for the Jimmies as UJ cruised to victory in sets one and two. The Defenders battled back to win the third set in overtime before the depth of Jamestown caught up with Dordt, resulting in a quick fourth set and match win for the Jimmies.

UJ was led on the attack by Kalli Hegerle who finished with 13 kills and .370 attack percentage. Four other Jimmie attackers finished with nine kills on the evening, including freshman Aleah Zieske who hit .400. As a team, Jamestown tallied a a .333 kill percentage and 55 total kills.

Jamestown native Megan Gaffaney led the Jimmies in total assists with 21 and Jackie Meiklejohn added 17 more. In the back row, Anna Holen finished as the leader in total digs with 19, and Hannah Schiele and Ellie Holen each had double digit digs in the victory.

The Jimmies improve to 3-0 in the GPAC and have now won 34 of their last 36 matches dating back to last season. UJ welcomes in Valley City State on Friday night at 7 pm for a non-conference battle before hosting Briar Cliff Saturday at 3 pm. Jamestown will play its next five matches at home, rounding out the homestand against Presentation College on September 28th.
