VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – 2,977 people lost their lives after the World Trade Center towers collapsed in New York City on September 11th, 2001, of those victims, 412 were first responders including 343 firefighters and 60 police officers.
Valley City Administrator Gwen Crawford gave the keynote message before the 9-11 Tribute Ride.
Valley City Fire Chief Scott Magnuson said the annual Red Knights 9-11 tribute ride on Sunday, September 12th is our way of honoring those who lost their lives.
Magnuson said a few years ago they had 343 registered riders, the same number of firefighters who lost their lives in New York City on September 11th, 2001.
The money raised from the tribute ride goes to families and businesses in the area who lost their property in a fire.
