Oakes was shutout for the second time this season in their 30-0 loss to the third-ranked Central Cass Squirrels. Nothing went right offensively for the Tornadoes as they were unable to get more than 100 yards of offense. They also failed to run a play in positive field position. They ran a play at the Central Cass 46-yard line, but a penalty put them back in their own territory.
Oakes stayed in the game in the first half after some solid defensive effort. They held Central Cass to just a field goal despite getting the ball at the Oakes 33-yard line after a blocked punt. Trailing 3-0, they made another red zone stop forcing a turnover on downs. However, Oakes was unable to get a first down on the ensuing possession which set Central Cass up for good field position in which they capitalized with a four-yard touchdown run from junior running back Owen Wiersma.
The score at the half was 10-0, but Central Cass wouldn’t look back. Wiersma got another touchdown with 7:19 left in the third quarter this time from three yards out. Just a few minutes later, the Squirrels got their first score over the air with a thirty-yard hook-up to senior wide receiver Jacob Deutsch to make it 24-0. Central Cass put their backups in, but were still able score with backup freshman quarterback Jacob Thompson to put them up 30-0.
With four offensive lineman absent for Oakes, it was difficult for any points to come to fruition. Senior running back had a few good runs, and junior quarterback Xavier Vossler had some nice throws in the first half, but they were unable to get a solid drive together.
