The funeral service for Markus Phillip Mueller, 49, Wimbledon, North Dakota will be 2 pm Saturday, September 4, 2021 at St. John’s United Methodist Church, Wimbledon. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Friday at Epworth United Methodist Church, Valley City, North Dakota, with a prayer service at 7 pm. He died Tuesday, August 31, as a result of a farming accident.

Markus Phillip Mueller was born September 20, 1971 in Valley City, the son of Phillip and Darlene (Elston) Mueller. The family lived in Valley City until they moved to Billings, Montana when he was four years old. When Markus was seven the family moved to Leal, North Dakota until moving to the farm near Wimbledon in 1985. He graduated from North Central High School in 1990 and graduated from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1994. Markus move to Livermore California where he worked at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and later transferred to the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico. It was there he met Michelle Vanderhoek. They were united in marriage on July 10, 1998 in Modesto, California. They made their home in Los Alamos until 2003 when they decided to move to the family farm near Wimbledon where they farmed and raised five daughters.

He was the financial secretary for St. John’s United Methodist Church and active with other community events. The one thing Markus enjoyed doing was, giving everyone he met a nickname.

Markus is survived by his wife Michelle; his five daughters, Grace, who is attending VCSU, Sarah, Charlotte, Hannah and Annaliese all at home; his parents Phillip and Darlene Mueller, Valley City; two sisters Bethany (Jesse) Mueller-Jacob, Arden Hills, Minnesota and their family, Jackson, Micah and Bodhi; and Megan Mueller, New Brighton, Minnesota and her family Madelyn and Mia. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law Jelle and Gerri Vanderhoek, Modesto; two brother-in-laws, Michael (Kari) Vanderhoek, Modesto and their family Jacob, Reed, Tice, and Reagan; and Jay (Beverly) Vanderhoek, Visalia, California and their family Eric, Aaron and Andrea.
